Sopot – kurort uzdrowiskowy i trójmiejskie serce
Sopot to miasto leżące nad zatoką Gdańską pomiędzy Gdańskiem a Gdynią, z
którymi to tworzy Trójmiasto. Pierwsze wzmianki o Sopocie sięgają XIII wieku,
gdzie był on nazywany osadą rybacką. Dopiero w późniejszych wiekach Sopot
nabierał kształtu i charakteru uzdrowiskowego oraz był nazywany mianem kurortu
nadmorskiego. Sopot jest również znany z organizacji w Operze Leśnej od roku
1961 konkursów Sopot Festival. Miasto wyróżnia się również na tle Europy najdłuższym
molo skonstruowanym z drewna.
Sopot kryje w sobie wiele miejsc, które walczą o atencję turystów. Przechadzając
się ulicami Sopotu możemy dostrzec doskonałą architekturę, która od wieków
kształtuje historyczny charakter tego miasta. Domy szachulcowe przyozdabiają
ścieżki sopockie, domy w zabudowie murowano-szachulcowej, kamienice oraz Wille
XIX wieczne, budowane dla ówczesnych osobistości: Willa Herbstów czy Willa
Wernera. Wśród dzieł architektonicznych dostrzegamy kościoły, kaplice oraz
cmentarzyska.
Sercem Sopotu i miejscami bardzo dobrze znanymi turystom jest bez wątpienia
molo – wspomniane już
najdłuższe w Europie o konstrukcji drewnianej, gdzie każdego roku tysiące
turystów z całego świata spaceruje i podziwia Bałtyk. Również najbardziej
reprezentatywna ulica i część Sopotu czyli tzn. Monciak – bardzo popularna i
szeroko przyjęta nazwa ulicy Bohaterów Monte Cassino, która jest strefą
całkowicie pieszą, spacerową, wyłączoną z ruchu samochodowego. Miejsce niezwykle
rozrywkowe, które w szczycie sezonu gromadzi w ogródkach restauracji, w klubach oraz pubach najwięcej ludzi. Ciekawostką
architektoniczną Monciaka jest Krzywy Domek - budynek charakterystyczny,
którego budowa zainspirowana została rysunkami artystów.
Przystań rybacka oraz latarnia morska w Sopocie to elementy nieodłączne przy
opisywaniu Sopotu jako kurortu nadmorskiego. Latarnia morska, już dziś
formalnie nie pełni funkcji latarni morskiej, jednak wciąż jest tak nazywana i
można odwiedzić jej wnętrze.
