Muzeum Gross-Rosen w Rogoźnicy

Muzeum Gross-Rosen w Rogoźnicy to historyczne miejsce upamiętniające niemiecki nazistowski obóz koncentracyjny, który działał od 1940 do 1945 roku na terenie dzisiejszej Polski, niedaleko współczesnej wsi Rogoźnica. Obóz Groß-Rosen był głównym ośrodkiem spośród ponad stu podobnych obozów pracy umiejscowionych na terenie Śląska, Czech i Niemiec.

Obóz został założony latem 1940 roku na terenie majątku rodziny barona Albrechta von Richthofena. Pierwszy transport więźniów dotarł 2 sierpnia 1940 roku i składał się głównie z Polaków. Początkowo był to obóz KL Sachsenhausen, a od 1 maja 1941 roku stał się samodzielnym obozem koncentracyjnym (KL GR).

Podczas swojej historii obóz Groß-Rosen pełnił funkcję obozu pracy, gdzie więźniowie byli wykorzystywani do wydobycia granitu z pobliskiego kamieniołomu. W 1944 roku obóz Groß-Rosen stał się centralą ogromnego systemu podobozów, w którym przetrzymywano dziesiątki tysięcy więźniów. W lutym 1945 roku wyruszył stamtąd marsz śmierci, a obóz został wyzwolony przez Armię Czerwoną 14 lutego 1945 roku.

Po wojnie na terenie dawnej lokalizacji obozu powstał zespół poobozowy i wystawienniczy Muzeum Gross-Rosen w Rogoźnicy, który upamiętnia tragiczne wydarzenia związane z historią tego miejsca.
